Ett tillbehör moln av små horisontell utsträckning, ofta cirriform, i form av en Keps, huva, eller halsduk, som sker ovanför eller kopplad till toppen av en cumulus eller cumulonimbus (mindre ofta stratocumulus) moln som ofta pierces det. Ibland flera pileus moln iakttas ovan varandra. Pileus bildas som ett fuktigt lager lokalt hävas på grund av stigande moln nedan. Se moln klassificering.
