Oldowan tool tradition
The earliest stone tool making tradition. The first Oldowan artifacts were made in East Africa about 2. 5-2. 4 million years ago presumably by Homo habilis and continued to be made by early Homo erectus until about 1. 5 million years ago. They consisted of simple core (shown below) and flake tools only slightly modified from their natural state by percussion flaking.
