Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM)
The GLM instrument on the GOES-R series of satellites will provide continuous lightning detection and mapping capabilities from geostationary orbit. The lightning sensor will detect both cloud-to-ground flashes and cloud flashes with a spatial resolution of 5-10 km.
