A colorless crystalline salt, C₆H₅N(NO)ONH₄, that is a precipitant for copper and iron from solutions and is also used in the analysis of other metals, esp. of the uranium group. Used for separating iron and copper from other metals. Precipitates iron quantitatively from strongly acid solutions.
